Reminder: Volunteer Log Intention (Hylomorphism)
Dates given: 2/3, 2/24
This is only a reminder to fill out the new Intention column added to the Volunteer Log starting this month. Background info in the context of Hylomorphism and the Church's teaching on Redemptive Suffering attached.
Truth is the correspondence (or alignment) of the mind (our mind) to reality (the mind of God).1 When we learn the truth, our minds are aligning with the mind of God, the way things actually are. Truths can be mathematical, scientific, moral, historical, metaphysical or religious in nature.
Goodness is achieved in so far as a thing is fulfilling its purpose.2 A thing is good when it does what it was made to do. St. Carlo Acutis was "good" because he lived out his purpose to inspire love for the Eucharist.
Beauty is the radiance of truth and goodness.3 A thing is beautiful in so far as it is being true to its nature and is fulfilling its purpose, which makes it good. When something is both True (authentic) and Good (fulfilling its purpose), it begins to "shine" or radiate. This is why we call the life of a saint like St. Carlo Acutis "beautiful” - we are seeing a human being fully alive and reflecting God.
