ELA 6 (Period 2) Assignments

6th ELA--6/2/2023--ekphrastic poem is due on Friday, 6/2/2023--poem with picture mounted on construction paper.  Your name needs to be on the back of the construction paper.

6th ELA/Lit--5/26/2023--on Friday the reading logs are due and you will be completing the vocab test, 6B.  Study vocab and be certain your reading log is completed and ready to go.

 

6th ELA--5/24/2023--study vocab 6B, #11-20, for vocab test on Thursday or Friday.

6th ELA--5/23/2023--VERY IMPORTANT:  study vocab words in 6B, #11-20.  Test will be either Thursday or Friday once the Carnival schedule is confirmed and official.  

6th ELA--5/19/2023--Friday is Grandparents Day.  In the time we have we will do reading logs and pass out the self-assessment paper for your essay.  The essay is due Monday with a print copy.  Please contact me to print only if your printer has expired (died), the ink is still on back order, or some other catastrophe.

 

 

6th ELA--5/17/2023--continue with writing the final copy of your activist/activism paper for WW.  It is due on Monday, 5/22/2023.

6th ELA--5/2/2023--work on your activist/activism essay.  The unit is almost finished with just a few lessons to go.  Final copy will be due in approximately three weeks.  Be certain to be writing at home besides the short time we have in class.

6th ELA--4/25/2023--keep working on your activist and their activism focus.  You can continue to research and you can also be writing.  Write two pages--both sides of a page of paper.

6th ELA--2/1/2023--keep working on your character essay for WW.  You have your claim by now and are hopefully beginning the writing of the essay itself.  Remember to use direct quotes from your short story, summarize parts, or story-tell parts of the story in your evidence.  Read for punctuation and sentences when you read through it.

6th ELA--1/31/2023--final copy of WW essay is due on Tuesday, 2/7/2023.  Spend time tonight writing more on the character essay.

6th ELA--1/27/2023--study for the Greek/Latin root test on "dict" tomorrow, Friday.

Be prepared to do some WW small group work and working on the drafting of your science wax museum person.

6th Lit--1/18/2023--from the packet of four short stories given in class today (Tuesday), read all four and choose ONE story to use for WW unit on theme writing.  Have a choice by Wednesday's class that can be written down.

6th ELA--1/16/2023--spend some time researching, drafting your first draft of the essay for the Science wax museum.

6th ELA--11/16/2022--be prepared with special snack for yourself for Writer's Workshop celebration tomorrow.  You will need a charged laptop!  Be certain to have a physical copy to turn in with the completed self-assessment.  This only applies if you were absent on Tuesday or you did not print it out already.

Have your classroom poster for St. Vincent de Paul completed and ready.  Also have your speech prepared to deliver tomorrow to your assigned classroom.  After speeches tomorrow, we will work on completing the hall posters to be put up around the school.

6th ELA--11/9/2022--continue to edit, revise, reread, have others read your final draft of the personal narrative.  The final copy with your heading is due on Tuesday, 11/15/2022.  Celebration will be on Wednesday, 11/16/2022.

6th ELA--10/18/2022--come prepared tomorrow to write a flash draft of your narrative.  Plan how you may want to begin your narrative--today's lesson about leads.  Have a couple of possible leads ready to go.  Plan to write the whole period.  This is not expected to be a finished quality narrative.  Look at other writing to see how authors began their writing.
