The goal of summer learning at Saint Brendan is to help students maintain important academic skills, encourage curiosity and creativity, and provide meaningful learning opportunities for all grade levels.
Students who complete a Summer Learning Packet for their grade and submit it on the first week of school will earn a Free Dress Pass!

READ- Students Preschool-8th grade are encouraged to:
- read daily
- be read to
- visit the library
- participate in reading challenges
- explore books they enjoy
Suggested Reading Challenges
PRACTICE- Students should spend 20-30 minutes each week practicing and maintaining important skills.
Incoming Preschool–3rd Grade:
Families are encouraged to focus on:
- reading and storytelling
- counting and number games
- handwriting/fine motor practice
- outdoor exploration
- imaginative play
Suggested Activities:
- practice letters and sounds
- count objects
- play card or board games
- write postcards or grocery lists
- complete simple art projects
- keep a nature journal
Incoming 4th–8th Grade
Students can use Progress Learning for short weekly practice sessions in:
- math
- reading/language arts
Suggested Expectation
- 20–30 minutes per subject each week
- adaptive lessons focused on maintaining skills
EXPLORE- Summer learning should include creativity, movement, and real-world experiences.
Students are encouraged to:
- spend time outdoors
- visit parks, museums, and libraries
- attend camps or community programs
- try new hobbies
- help with cooking, gardening, or service projects
Students who complete their grades summer work packet will receive: A Free Dress Pass in the Fall!
Packets can be turned in on the first week of school.
