IMPORTANT UPDATE- School Closure for Training

Dear Families,

While we do not have any confirmed cases of COVID-19 at St. Brendan, we do want to ensure the school is well prepared with strong contingency plans should the need to close arise.  We will be closing school tomorrow, Friday March 6th in order to expand our existing e-learning capabilities. We spent time Wednesday afternoon beginning our e-learning training and this will be an opportunity to enrich that learning to ensure strong plans are in place.

I want to be clear that this decision is not in response to fear regarding COVID-19.  It is important to know that there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 at St. Brendan Catholic School.  We will be using tomorrow to give our staff contingency planning time.  All teaching staff will be reporting to school tomorrow and will be onsite all day.

We will also use this day to begin some of our e-learning plans.  Teachers will be emailing parents/students by 9:30am tomorrow morning with assignments and lessons for students to complete at home. Teachers will provide an additional check-in email at noon tomorrow with any feedback or additional work for students.  This will be a learning day for students and it is expected that students complete any assigned work from teachers to receive attendance for this e-learning day.  Teachers will send home any necessary books or materials with students this afternoon. While students are completing their e-learning at home teachers will also be furthering their e-learning training at school.

If you do not have access to a computer/internet at home please let us know and we will provide guidance.

Please know that we will continue to follow the health department guidance should we need to close for an extended period of time.  The health department still does not recommend school closures due to COVID-19 at this time.  This planning day will allow St. Brendan Catholic School to be prepared should the need to close arise.

As of right now, we do plan to return to a normally scheduled school day on Monday, March 9th.

Thank you for your understanding and support.
