Due:
Check-In Quiz, Exploration 3, Take it Further (two sections)
Important: Your first order of business is to look at the “Trimester 3 Check-In Quiz” assignment and complete this simple quiz (this is very important, so please get this done ASAP).
For your assignments, you have been tasked with Exploration 3 (our final work in Patterns of Interaction), and you will complete BOTH the Environmental Changes and Interactions And Cleaning Symbiosis sections (you will Not need to complete the “Collaborate” section of the Cleaning Symbiosis section). During our Zoom meeting we will go over the “Conduct Research” section that you will need to complete.
Due:
Quiz (due Monday) and two Explorations (due Wednesday) and Optional Bonus
7th: Your priority assignment (Lesson Quiz) is waiting for you. We reviewed for this extensively on Thursday during our Zoom time so I am confident you won’t have any issues. You must take this quiz by 3:00pm on Monday, May 18th.
After your quiz, you have two explorations that deal with interactions among species (particularly feeding habits and symbiotic relations that are mutually beneficial to multiple species). There is a Hands-On section in the first exploration that I will allow you to complete for a rare Bonus opportunity, but you must EMAIL ME your lab results with pictures (no exceptions). Both of your explorations (and the optional bonus exercise) are due on Wednesday at 9:00am.
There are a couple of missing HMH Explorations in the system, so make certain that you are 100% caught up in HMH once you finish the work listed above.
Due:
Zoom Tomorrow, QUIZ Monday, Virtual Lab Monday

You have two assignments to complete for Monday. First, you will have your Lesson Quiz that will cover our most recent lesson (Resource Availability in Ecosystems). You will have both multiple choice and response questions, so please be prepared for your quiz (you will have until Monday at 3:00 pm to complete the quiz).. You absolutely must be able to provide thoughtful responses to demonstrate your understanding of the “big ideas” for your discussion questions. The school year is quickly winding down so please be sure to study so you can get all the points you possibly can from here on out.
Your second assignment is to complete the Virtual Lab that I have tasked you with. This Virtual Lab (I really like this particular lab) is a great addition to this unit. You need to complete this lab by Monday at 9:00am.

We will not have a Zoom this week due to our short class week.
For this week, you have one exploration (Matter and Energy in Ecosystems) that will be due on Wednesday! Additionally, you have an activity/game on MS Teams that you will need to complete by Wednesday (I go over the specifics on the Teams page). After today, you will not have additional assignments from me until after spring break on April 20th.

After you complete this portion, you will complete your Exploration 1 on HMH. You will be looking at photosynthesis and respiration (the very early intro, at least). This will be due on Friday, March 27th. Also, here is your Friday Zoom meeting link: https://us04web.zoom.us/j/828783512

Howdy Folks,
I hope that all is well! Again, nice job keeping up with your assignments! I am so impressed with your self-advocacy and responsibility taking! I love you guys and I miss you. Please make sure you’re not driving your parents crazy while you’re stuck at home :)
March 19th Assignments:
6th Grade: BEAUTIFUL job with attendance! You guys rock!
Tomorrow, 3/19, you will be completing the Potential and Kinetic Energy section “Lesson Self Check” in HMH. Specifically, you will be completing three sections: "Can You Explain it?," "Interactive Review," and "Checkpoints.” You do Not have to complete the “Make Your Own Study Guide” section. Pay close attention to the points taught in the Self Check as this is an excellent review/recap of what we have covered regarding PE/KE. This will be due Friday at 9:00am.
7th Grade: Don’t forget to keep an eye on your lab! The answers for this are due on Monday, March 23rd. Your assignment for Thursday, 3/19 is as follows: You will be completing your HMH Exploration 3 today. This is an Excellent summation of the Law of Conservation of Matter and Energy. Remember: matter and energy can neither be created nor destroyed! As organisms, we are Perfect examples of this! This assignment will be due Friday morning at 9:00am.
8th Grade: I will have a Zoom meeting @ 10:00am on Friday, March 20th. The meeting code is: 591-405-089 See you there! I am tasking you with your HMH Exploration 2. This exploration contains an incredibly fun lab on testing the effectiveness of packing materials (you should definitely have most of the materials around the house; Please don’t go to the store! Use what you have! Be creative!). The lab asks that you use a scale… remember, you can hop on the scale, find your weight, and then pick something up and find the difference (your weight - your weight+an item= weight of the item).Personally I would have LOVED to do this during middle school! The good news is that this exploration will be due on Monday, March 23rd. I am giving you two days of class to work on this as it is much more involved than a normal exploration and you may need a little bit of time to gather materials. All I ask is that you do your best on the lab. Challenge yourself. Have fun. Think about the lessons you learned during our “The Sky is Falling” egg-drop lab. Let me know if you have any questions!
I miss you guys,
Mr. L
