Students will finish reading the short story "All Summer in a Day" out of their Literature textbooks, answering the sections 'Analyzing Literature' and 'Critical Thinking and Reading'.

Persuasive 3

The Persuasive 3 Worksheet must be done before class tomorrow.
Students will write a rough draft of their introduction paragraph where they introduce what they are asking for, who they will be asking, and why they want what they want.
They will then write about 3 issues that might stop them from getting what they want and their solutions to those issues.
Finally, they will be writing the rough draft of their conclusion paragraph.'
 
This will be collected at the start of class 12/10.

Students need to have vocabulary words 1-10 copied from Chapter 3. Full definitions are required, copied word for word out of the book!

Students will need to have their final essay draft printed at the beginning of class, I will also collect their rough draft and rubric.

Rough Draft for Essay 1

You have all been working hard to get ready for this essay, you should have all the pieces you need to put together a rough draft. 
My main requirements for this rough draft are that you have 5 paragraphs: Introduction, 3 body, and Conclusion.
Make sure you are starting your essay with a hook sentence.
While you are creating this draft make sure you keep the prompt in mind, Convince Mr. Murnane to check out your show, movie, or game.

Students have been working on the beginnings of their first essay this year.
This is divided into two packets: "Essay #1 - The First Steps" and "Essay #1 - The Second Part".

Vocabulary Practice - Unit 1: 1-20

I will be collecting students' composition books at the beginning of class tomorrow. In the composition books will be the first 10 words of Vocabulary Unit 1 with their definitions, their response to the creative writing prompt "The horse needs dance lessons" which includes 5 vocabulary words, followed by vocabulary words with their definitions 11-20.
