7th Lit--5/9/2023--if your non-fiction book club has yet to finish your book, please finish by Wednesday.  This will likely mean homework time to do this.  

 

Today's class work was to select a non-fiction piece from the lit book.  You are to read it and write on paper to turn in what/if any of the five signposts the author used--contrasts & contradictions, extreme or absolute language, numbers and data, quoted words, and word gaps.  Then answer the three reading questions: what did the author assume that I knew, what surprised me, what changed, challenged, or confirmed what I know?  Write to analyze and think about what you read using all of the signposts and the three questions.  Turn this in on Tuesday, 5/9/2023.

7th Lit--2/8/2023--finish working on the packet for part 3 of Refugee.  This is due on 2/8/2023 as I recall, but you can correct me if I am incorrect.

If you have turned in your part 3  packet, you may begin reading pgs. 147-196.  Think and observe how the characters are changing and how what they experience affects/changes them.

Reading time of Refugee may be included on your weekly reading log.

7th Lit--2/1/2023--continue to read part 3 of Refugee.  This section is from pg. 93-146.  There will be a packet to complete at the end of it.

 

Be prepared for discussion about the characters, how they are changing, and their thinking about the events they are experiencing.

7th Lit--1/31/2023--continue reading part 3 of Refugee, pg. 93=146.  If reading is a struggle, speak with family about getting an audio copy from the public library or accessing an on-line audio edition of the book.

7th Lit--1/30/2023--reading log is due next Friday, 2/3/2023.

7th Lit--10/11/2022--tomorrow in literature, you will go back to the lit book, pg. 197-200.  In table groups you will be looking for and writing down, prepositional phrases that you can find in the short story by Hemingway.  The ELA book, pg. 326, is a reference resource for the prepositions.  This work will be turned in at the end of the period.  All of you are expected to do the work and help your classmates to do their work by keeping focused and on task.

7th Lit--9/21/2022--work on the comic strip of "Rikki-Tikki-Tavi".  This is a comic strip of 8 - 10 panels, in color, with the beginning of the story (where Rikki-Tikki) came and how, and the climax of the story required.  This will be in color.  Each panel will have either a thought or speech bubble with the text correctly spelled, punctuated, and capitalized.  Do your best work!  

7th Lit--9/20/2022--finish reading the story, "Rikki-Tikki-Tavi".  After reading the story, answer questions 6-9 on pg. 23 on a piece of paper.  Use sentences, punctuation, and capitalization.  Turn in on Tuesday, 90/2022.

7th Lit--9/16/2022--must have Lit book covered tomorrow for book cover check.  First reading log is due tomorrow, Friday, 9/16/2022.
