ELA 7B (Period 4) Assignments

7th ELA--6/1/2023--turn in any last missing poems and essays

7th ELA--5/31/2023--finish and turn in the ekphrastic poem if not already completed and turned in.  WW Celebration is Wednesday, 5/31//2023.  Be certain that you have your laptops all charged up and ready to go for celebration.

7th ELA--5/26/2023--study vocab words for the vocab test, 7A, on Friday.  Practice your sentences using the words in the proper context.

7th ELA--5/19/20233--the final essay for the literary writing unit is due on Thursday, 5/25/2023.  If we have any time tomorrow, reading logs will be turned in.  On Monday, you will receive your self-assessment paper to turn in with your essay on Thursday.  

7th ELA--5/17/2023--continue to work on your literary essay for WW.  This is due on Thursday, 5/25/2023.  Make it your best work ever!

7th ELA--5/16/2023--focus on writing the literary essay.  It is due on Thursday, 5/25/2023.  Use everything that has been done in the WW lessons to make it outstanding.

7th ELA--5/15/2023--the deadline for the literary essay is set for Thursday, 5/25/2023.  This is non-negotiable.  Work on your essay over the weekend.

7th ELA--5/12/2023--continue with your literary essay and reading.  Think about a due date, tentatively Wednesday, 5/24/2023?

7th ELA--4/7/2023--Do what you can to continue with the reading and writing about your chosen book.  

7th ELA--4/6/2023--be prepared to give me the title of the book you are using for the WW unit on writing about reading.  Be reading and writing about it every day.  This will become a full essay eventually.

7th ELA--4/5/2023--choose a book that will be used for your work with this WW unit on writing about reading.  Is it a book you like and are connected to?  Can I give it my full attention to work to understand it through and through?  This kind of thinking may be helpful in making your choice of book.  You are expected to be reading and taking notes as you read it.  This can be included as part of your reading log time for the weeks we are working on this unit.

7th ELA--4/4/2023--finish the informational/expository writing on a specific topic that was begun in class today.  This due tomorrow, Tuesday, 4/4/2023.

7th ELA--3/31/2023--Vocab test on Friday, 3/31/2023.  There will be information provided for Monday's WW pre-assessment for the final WW unit.  We will also do some more of your games about sentence structures.

7th ELA--3/28/2023--study vocab words for vocab test on 5A on Friday, 3/31/2023.  Be certain to have your papers/notes on villanelle poetry with you for tomorrow's class.  You can work on this tonight at home as well.

7th ELA--3/27/2023--begin studying the vocab list 5A, pg. 62-63, #1-10.  The test will be on Friday, 3/31/2023.

7th ELA--3/13/2023--practice/memorize your speeches.  Be certain your floor plan is ready to go and turn in.  Be prepared for the post-assessment about clauses on Monday.

7th ELA--3/9/2023--study Greek/Latin roots for Thursday's test and memorize & practice LWM speech

7th ELA--3/2/2023--study for Latin root test on Friday.  Work on your speech for LWM.

7th ELA--3/1/2023--study the Latin root list for the test on Friday, 3/3/2023.  If you would like me to review your speech for the LWM, please let me know.  Turn in the root word search if you did not turn it in today.

7th ELA--2/24/2023--LWM paper with self-assessment is due Friday, 2/24/2023.  If you left the self-assessment in the ELA room, please get one in the morning to complete and attach to your essay.

7th ELA--2/22/2023--work on LWM essay.  This is due on 2/24/2023.  If you do not have the version of Microsoft word that has the full references tab, try using the mybib.com site to create your bibliography.  Remember to set it for MLA.  

7th ELA--2/16/2023--work on the wax museum essay which is due next Friday, 2/24/2023.

7th ELA--2/13/2023--study word list for class spelling bee

7th ELA--2/1/2023--it is expected that the WW competitive sports writing is your focus since this is due next Tuesday, 2/7/2023.  Be certain that you have a claim in your essay and have found sources to cite in the text of your essay to support your claim.  Also, be certain that you consider counterarguments to your claim and present evidence to support your position.  Read your writing out loud to hear it for the punctuation, sentences, and overall continuity and flow of the essay.

 

7th ELA--1/31/2023--work on both the science wax museum essay and the competitive sports for kids essay.  Build on what you did today in class.

7th ELA--1/27/2023--work on your WW essay writing and the wax museum writing project over the weekend.  

7th ELA--1/18/2023--debate flash draft ready for class on Thursday, 1/19/2023.  NO Latin/Greek root this week.

7th ELA--1/16/2023--spend some time over the weekend working on your research, drafting, and writing your essay for the Science wax museum project.  

7th ELA--1/11/2023--be ready with your WW notebooks in class on Wednesday for the first lesson of the new unit.  

New Latin/Greek root will be passed out tomorrow as well.  

 

7th ELA -- 1/10/2023--be prepared for a WW writing pre-assessment on argument writing.  You may bring information you have located for the topic or issue you plan to write a position.  This is going to be hand-written.  The information you found can be on your laptop or in a word doc on your laptop.  This will take all period and maybe beyond to homework.

 

Get your wax museum personage approved by Mr. Langston ASAP.  The absolute deadline is this coming Friday.

7B - ELA--1/6/2023--Greek/Latin root test on man/manu on Friday, 1/6/2023.  Study for test.  Turn in any missing root worksheets for man/manu.

7B- ELA--1/5/2023--review, study words for test on Friday, 1/6/2023, on the "man, manu" root words.  It will be the same format as test last week.

7B--ELA--1/4/2023--study the Greek/Latin root, man, manu.  We will be doing some more with this tomorrow.

7B--ELA--12/14/2022--quiz/test on ped/pod, Latin/Greek roots, is on Thursday.  Study your list.  

7th ELA--12/13/2022--complete the ped/pod worksheet on finding 5 more words that have either ped or pod as their root.  You may NOT use the words that are on the list from Friday's class.  Double check the dictionary if you are unsure if the word has ped or pod as the root.  Also, remember to put the part of speech--noun, verb, adjective, adverb.  You may use an on-line dictionary for this work.  

7thB ELA--11/7/2022--continue with the artist critique work.  We will discuss and decide the due date next week.  NO vocab test until 11/18/2022, unit 3B.  

7thB--ELA--11/2/2022--Come to class tomorrow with the name and title of the art work that you plan to critique.  These are being written down for information in my records. 

7thB-ELA--10/26/2022--Celebration tomorrow, Wednesday, 10/26/2022, during our combined ELA time.  Bring a small snack for yourself and a drink if you would like.  Have your laptop fully charged and ready to go for reading your fictional narrative.

7B-ELA--10/25/2022--fictional narrative is DUE, Tuesday, 10/25/2022.  Be certain you have done a final editing and proofing.  Have someone else read it.  Complete the self-assessment to staple behind your narrative.  Make certain you have put your name, date, & class in the heading on the paper.  Double check that it is 1.5 line spacing in Times New Roman font, size 12.  

7B-ELA--10/21/2022--vocab test is tomorrow, Friday, 10/21/2022.

7B--ELA--10/20/2022--continue to work on your fictional narrative.  Everyone needs to be typing by this point in time.  The due date is Friday, 10/21/2022, if you have it completed and the checklist self-assessment.  If it is not ready for Friday, the final date is Tuesday, 10/25/2022.  No exceptions.

7thB--ELA--10/11/2022--tomorrow I am at the Ropes Course with the 6th grade.  Mr. Langston and Mrs. Deehr will be covering some of my classes.  During ELA time, you are focused on your narratives.  At this time, the final is due on 10/21/2022--a week from Friday.  We will check in during next week to see if that needs to change or not.  Work hard tomorrow!
