Literature 7 (Period 3) Assignments

7th Lit--5/27/2022--Last reading log of the year is due!  Any missing work is due by Wednesday, June 1, 2022.  This is the last opportunity to improve your grades.

7th Lit--5/20/2022--reading log is due.  Work on your essay for ELA.

7th Lit--5/19/2022--reading logs are due on Friday, 5/20/2022.  Get back on track with your book club calendar after the MAP tests of the week.

 

 

7th Lit--5/17/2022--Because of MAP testing, we did not meet for literature and ELA on Monday.  It is very important on Monday and Tuesday to make sure you complete your assigned reading from your small group calendar.  

7th Lit--5/12/2022--continue with reading non-fiction book.  Read with the three questions in mind:  what surprised you? what did the author think you knew? what challenged, changed or confirmed what you know?  Keep current with your group calendar.

7th Lit--5/11/2022--continue to read and take notes on your non-fiction book.  Be prepared tomorrow for the third question to use in reading non-fiction.  Tonight as you read, use the first two questions to help you as you read:  what surprised me? what does the author think that I know?

7th Lit--5/10/2022--continue to read and take notes about your reading in the non-fiction book.  Tonight read specifically with the mindset of looking and noting things which surprised you in your reading.  Follow your group calendar for where you need to be in the reading.  

7th Lit--5/6/2022--continue to read, reflect, and write about your non-fiction book.  Keep up with your group calendar.

7th Lit--5/4/2022--be ready for a work day on Wednesday, 5/4/2022.  Tonight be sure to read more in your book depending upon your group's calendar.  In your notebook, you are entering your questions about the reading, thoughts about the reading, and reactions to the reading.  The writing becomes a journal of sorts and is the basis for writing.

Last library day is Tuesday, May 17, 2022.  Be certain that all library books are returned; late books can delay your receiving your report card at the end of the year.

In the non-fiction reading, be certain to keep up with your group calendar.  Every day after and during reading, write notes about you have read and analyze why the author may have made certain writing moves.  Think about structure of the writing, too.  Everything you read is worthy of comment and reflection about the subject matter or how the author accomplishes his purposes in writing this non-fiction book.

7th Lit--4/29/2022--reading log is due Friday, 4/29/2022.  

 

In the writing work in literature, continue with the reading of your non-fiction book.  Be certain to take notes.  Follow your book club's calendar.  This is part of your responsibility as part of the book club.

 

 

7th Lit--4/28/2022--continue to read in your book club book; take notes; look up things mentioned in the book to further your understanding of the topic.  Do your group reading work every day.  Does your book club group need to calendar more chapters to read?  

7th Lit-4/14/2022--follow your book club's calendar for reading.  Be certain to keep up and write thoughts, questions, and ideas about what you read in your lit notebooks.  Think deep and write long!

7th Lit--4/13/2022--Be certain to follow your group's calendar about reading in the non-fiction book.  Be ready for tomorrow's class and group reading, discussion, and questions.  Bring your thinking about what you read and discuss in your book clubs.

7th Lit--4/12/2022--be certain to check and follow your reading groups calendar about what to have read by Tuesday, 4/12/2022.  Be ready to discuss in your groups.  

Hold yourself and the other group members accountable to follow the group-established calendar for this book study.

7th Lit--3/24/2022--if you have finished the short story, "Hard to Say", work on the summary, character traits, theme/plot, and advice from another character to the main character of the story.  This is likely something that you need to infer from the story.  

 

Complete and turn in work for the "Low Cuts" short story--summary, theme/plot, character traits of primary characters.  If you turned it in and parts are missing, complete them and resubmit the work.

7th Lit--3/21/2022--short quiz on "The Low Tops Strike Again" will be on Monday, 3/21/2022.

 

Turn in any remaining part 6 packets from Refugee.  

7th Lit--3/17/2022--write down in your literature notebook any questions that have arisen for you in beginning to read the short story.

7th Lit--3/10/2022--Turn in plot story arc maps for Refugee on Thursday, 3/10/2022.  Reading log will be due on Friday, 3/11/2022 on Teams.

7th Lit--3/9/2022--be certain to complete and turn in the backpack assignment--picture and writing.  The writing may be turned in on Teams as well. 

7th Lit--3/8/2022--complete backpack assignment for tomorrow.  Post the picture of backpack contents on Teams.  Write your reflection about what was chosen and why on paper and bring to class for discussion.

7th Lit--2/25/2022--Reading log is due on Friday, 2/25/2022.  Have it ready.

 

Keep reading in Refugee and working on the packet.  Packet 4 is high priority because this is the end of the trimester.  Remaining copies of packet 4 are due on Monday, 2/28/2022.

7th Lit--2/24/2022--work to complete and turn in all part 4 packets from Refugee by Friday.  These will be part of Trimester 2 grades; parts 5 and 6 will be included on third trimester grades.  Do quality work!

7th Lit--2/4/2022--Reading log is due on Friday, 2/4/2022.  The expectation is 150 minutes or more for the week.  This is the first log due after applying the Christmas Break credits for three weeks.

7th Lit--2/4/2022--reading log is due tomorrow, Friday, 2/4/2022.  Be sure to add up all the minutes you have read this past week--since last Friday.

7th Lit--2/1/2022--complete reading pages 93-146.  Begin to work on the packet for part 3 of the novel, Refugee.  Give thoughtful answers to the questions in the packet.  Reread sections as you need to help you give answers.  On the last page of the packet be certain to read the directions and page cited; reread the page to know the quote in context.  Think well and hard about how you are going to answer it.  

7th Lit--1/31/2022--packet for part two of the novel, pg. 57-92, is due on Monday, 1/31/2022.  This is the vocabulary and response questions for the section.  Please provide thoughtful answers using sentences with capitalization and punctuation.  Answers which do not contain these elements will be returned to correct and resubmit.  

7th ELA--1/26/2022--IF YOU HAVE NOT COMPLETED THE PART ONE WORK, the response paper and the character track, have those neatly completed to turn in on Wednesday, 1/26/2022.  IF THESE THINGS ARE COMPLETED, there is no homework in lit.

7th Lit--1/25/2022--turn in on Tuesday, 1/25/2022, the character track paper and the paper of reflections on pg. 1-55 of the novel, Refugee.  It is expected to be quality work with thought and questions if there are any.

7th Lit--1/24/2022--for the pages 1-55, work on the character chart which is due on Monday, 1/24/2022, and the reflection pages (both sides of the printed page) is due on Tuesday, 1/25/2022.  

7th Lit--1/21/2022--Complete the vocabulary page from the Refugee packet.  Turn this in on Friday, 1/21/2022.  Work on the Character track page and complete by Friday, 1/21/2022.  The book is a resource for the physical description of the three characters.

7th Lit--1/19/2022--by Thursday, 1/20/2022, finish reading pages 1-55 in the novel, Refugee.  Complete the first page of the packet about the definitions/sentences of the vocabulary words.  

7th Lit--1/14/2022--finish and turn in on Friday, the assignment from the literature book on pg. 75.  Please finish and turn in the two character trait studies--one on Antonio and one on Felix.

 

7th Lit--1/12/2022--in the literature book on page 75, answer the following questions:  #5-7; Analyzing Lit #1 and 2; Critical thinking, #1 and 2; Thinking and Writing section; and Learning Option #1.  This work is due on WEDNESDAY, 1/12/2022.  

7th Lit--1/12/2022--completed chapter packet on the Christmas Pageant are due Wednesday, 1/12/2022.  Any not turned in "Broken Chain" character trait charts or story questions are also due on Wednesday, 1/12/2022.

7th Lit--1/10/2022--all chapter packets on the Christmas Pageant novel are due by Monday, 1/10/2022.  This might be just be chapters 6 and 7, the whole packet, or a different part of the chapter packet.

7th Lit--1/10/2022--any missing chapter packet work from the novel, Best Christmas Pageant Ever, are due by Monday, 1/10/2022.

7th Lit--1/7/2022--reading logs from Christmas Break are due on Friday, 1/7/2022, as usual.  Have the total ready for Friday's class.

7th Lit--11/4/2021:  in the literature book, complete #3-8 pg. 50.  Also complete the thinking/writing section on pg. 50.  In addition complete/draw an internal/external story arc and write a summary using the format learned about writing a summary (Someone who, wants what, but (conflict), so, then, finally).

7th Lit--10/29/2021:  Reading log is due Friday, 10/29/2021.  Keep reading and write it down daily.  If you have a missing log, please report the minutes to Mrs. Wenzl.

7th Lit--10/20/2021--have the short story, "Science Friction" in class on Wednesday, 10/20/2021, for class work on prepositions and prepositional phrases.

7th Lit--10/12/2021:  Completed and printed copy of essay on "Lather, Nothing Else", is due on Tuesday, 10/15/2021.  Be certain to proof it carefully--punctuation, spelling, sentence clarity and structure.  Read it aloud to yourself, the cat, or the dog, or even a stuffed animal.

7th Lit--10/6/2021:  After reading the short story, "Lather Nothing More", complete the assigned questions in the literature book on pg. 10, #2, 4, 6, 7, and 9.  Be certain to use punctuation and capitalization in your responses and provide thought out answers to the questions.  Turn this in on Wednesday, 10/6/2021.

7th Lit--10/5/2021:  finish reading the short story, "Lather, and Nothing Else", pg. 3-9.  Using the questions written down today during class, answer the book to answer the questions.  There will be other questions Tuesday, from the book to answer.

7th Lit--9/23/2021:  Reading log is due Friday, 9/24/2021, with 150 minutes for the week.

Reread what was read today in class from "Riki-Tiki-Tavi".  Write out five sentences that have prepositional phrases in them.  Also write the prepositional phrase of the sentence, the preposition, and the object of the preposition.  Have ready to share tomorrow in class.

7th Lit--9/17/2021--Reading log with 150 minutes for the week is due on Friday, 9/17/2021.

7th Lit--9/16/2021--Finish reading the short story, "Last Cover" if you have not finished it.  After finishing the reading, on pg. 66 answer questions under Responding to the Selection: #2,4,6,7,9, 10 and the work under the Thinking and Writing section.  This is due Thursday, 9/16/2021.  Use neat and legible penmanship and support all answers with evidence from the story.  Cite pages, too.
