ELA 7A (Period 5) Assignments

7th A-ELA--5/27/2022--Any missing work is due by Wednesday, June 1, 2022.  This is the last opportunity to improve your grades.  IF your essay was not turned in on Thursday, it must be turned in on Friday, 5/27/2022.

7th A--ELA--5/19/2022--work every day on your final copy of the companion book writing.  The due date is next week--5/25/2022.

7th A--ELA--5/18/2022--be ready to work on your final copy of the companion "book" for your book.  Be certain to have a table of contents to help the organization of your writing.  The final is due next week--May 25/2022.

7A-ELA--5/17/2022--we used ELA time as well as Lit class time for MAP testing on Monday.  It is important for all of you to work on your "book" about a book tonight for homework.  Your companion book is important.  This will be important to do on Tuesday night as well because of MAP tests.

7th A ELA--5/12/2022--continue with reading and writing about your chosen book.  There is about one lesson remaining.  The due date is Wednesday, 5/25/2022.

7th A--ELA-5/11/2022---continue to read and draft, revise, edit your writing about the book you are using for this work.  Due date is Thursday, 5/25/2022.  This deadline is firm with no extensions.  Be certain that you write your thinking and also apply today's lesson about the author--he used what technique for what goal.  

7th A--ELA, 5/10/2022--continue to work on your "book" about your book.  Use the checklist tonight to review your writing progress and set goals for the continued work.  Due date of Wednesday, 5/25/2022, has been agreed upon and set by the class. Completed work can be turned in earlier than the 25th.  

7thA-ELA--5/4/2022--be prepared for a writing day tomorrow, Wednesday, 5/4/2022.  Tonight look for pivotal moments worth writing about.  Keep reading and writing notes as your read. Write 1.5 pages tonight for your entry.

7A-ELA--4/29/2022--continue to read and write about the reading of your book for this writing unit.  Strive to work on theme writing tonight--1-2 pages about the theme(s) of the book and your thinking and analysis about it.

7A ELA--4/28/2022--read and write more tonight about the book you are using for this Writer's Workshop unit of study.  Write two pages of your thinking and analysis of what you are reading.  Ask yourself, "Am I clear in what I am writing?"  Cite sources/direct quotes as needed to make your thinking clear.

7thA- ELA--4/14/2022--continue to read (25 pages/night) and write daily and deeply about what you read.  A couple of pages every time you read is good.  

Write thoughts, explain them clearly, and keep thinking and writing.

 

7th ELA--4/13/2022--keep reading and taking notes on and about the book you are using for this unit of Writer's Workshop.  Analyze, think, question, write about what you read.  Have your work with you on Wednesday.  Thursday and Friday will be reading and writing days.

7th ELA--4/12/2022--bring the book you are going to use with this new unit of Writer's Workshop.  This will need to be with you daily for class.  Tonight firm up your choice for book; read some in the book; and write two pages in your notebook about what you read.  You are focusing on how and what you think about the book, characters, plot, theme, etc. of this book you are using.

7th ELA--4/6/2022--continue to work on your poems.  Today, Tuesday was the last day of learning about poetry.  All  poems are due NO LATER than FRIDAY, 4/8/2022. Earlier is okay as well.  This includes any odes, sense poems, acrostic, free verse, haiku, tanka, and couplets that still need to be completed and turned in.

7th ELA--3/31/2022--write an ode about topic of your choice.  An ode is a poem of joy and does not need to have a rhyming pattern, but it can.  Be ready to copy the ode onto construction paper.  The sonnet will be worked on in class.  

7th ELA--3/29/2022--finish the sensory poem that was begun last week.  This means putting it on construction paper and writing it neatly.  Finish the limerick from today's class.  Due tomorrow, Tuesday, 3/29/2022.

7th Lit--3/9/2022--be certain to complete and turn in the backpack assignment--picture and writing.  The writing may be turned in on Teams as well. 

7 ELA/WW--2/25/2022--All copies of the final argument essay paper are due.  Please complete the self-assessment to turn in with essay.  

7th ELA/WW--2/24/2022--work on final copy of argument essay.  This is due on Monday, 2/28/2022.  IF it is completed before then, it may be turned in sooner.  This essay will be on third trimester grades.  

 

 

7th ELA/WW--2/18/2022--work on the essay during break.  This is due on Thursday, 2/24/2022, after mid-winter break.  Complete the checklist as a self-assessment and turn in with your essay.

7th ELA/WW--2/15/2022--continue to work on argument essay--both the primary topic and the subtopic.  This is due on Monday, 2/28/2022.

7th ELA/WW--2/11/2022--continue to work on your essay.  Work on writing your essay.  The due date is 2/28/2022, but it can be turned in sooner if complete.

7th Lit--2/10/2022--complete section 3 of novel packet and reading (pg. 93-146).  Turn in section 3 work on Thursday, 2/10/2022.

7th ELA/WW--2/10/2022--we had our last lesson today in this unit of argument writing.  Work on your final copy of your writing.  Use the resources and handouts that have been provided.  If you finish the writing/editing/revising process and are finished before the due date (2/24/2022 in 7A; 2//28/2022 in 7B) it is okay to turn it in early.  

7th ELA/WW--2/8/2022--continue to work on and write your argumentative essay.  This essay has two parts written into one essay--the main topic and the sub-topic.  Use the handouts and checklist to help you assess where your writing is at this time.  Work on the skills that need improvement in your essay.

7th ELA/WW--2/7/2022--work on your essay.  Use the handouts from today's lesson on intros and conclusions to help you with those parts of your writing.  Use the other handouts from the unit to help your writing.  Use the argument checklist to self-assess your writing to improve it.  

7th ELA/WW--2/4/2022--continue to work on your essays about your chosen topic and subtopic.  These two parts can be added together into one paper.  It needs to have a transition between the sections.  Each part needs a claim because each part has a different focus.  There will be two lessons next week alternating with writing days.  

7th ELA/WW--2/3/2022--work long and hard on argument papers.  Due date is Thursday, 2/24/2022.  Okay to incorporate both essays into one beginning with the general topic and transitioning to the zeroed in topic.  

7th ELA/WW--2/2/2022--continue to work on, type, finish, edit essays (first one and the sub-topic one) about your topic.  Tentative due date--week of 2/7/2022.  Subject to change pending student progress. 

7th ELA/WW--2/1/2022--work long and hard on your argument essay for your subtopic.  Be certain to provide evidence and thinking to support your reasons for your claim.  Use today's handout to help with language to use in this work.  Use previous handouts as well in this work.

7th ELA--1/28/2022--keep writing, revising, editing your argument essay.  Make sure to work on the sub-topic you have chosen.  Have a clear claim and structure to your writing.  Insert quotes and text citations to support your point and against a different position.

7th ELA--1/26/2022--For Wednesday, 1/26/2022, have a rough draft of your argument essay.  This will be not be a completed essay, but a draft.  Print a copy to turn in on Wednesday.

7th ELA--1/26/2022--for class on Wednesday, 1/26/2022, have a rough draft ready to turn in.  This does not need to be the complete paper, but approximately one page of text.  This is to see progress and offer suggestions.

7th ELA--1/19/2022--work on the research for the paper we are using in Writer's Workshop and the argument unit. 

7th ELA--1/14/2022--begin writing the flash draft of your position paper on the topic from the class debate on 1/13/2022.  If you have chosen a different topic from those presented, please begin writing a flash draft of that debate topic with a claim, reasons, and evidence.

7th ELA--1/12/2022--complete the Writer's Workshop writing sample for homework.  This was begun in class and is finished at home and turned in on Wednesday, 1/12/2022.  Give yourself about a class period's worth of time -- 40-45 minutes to complete this work.  Use any notes you took on Monday night's homework to help you write the essay.

7th ELA--1/11/2022-- In preparation for Writer's Workshop on Tuesday, think and decide on a topic or issue that you care about a lot.  Do some research about or bring information/books with you to class on Tuesday, 1/11/2022.  In class you will be using this information to write on this topic.  This will be hand-written; it will not be written on your laptops.  Laptops will not be used for this work.  

7th ELA--1/10/2022--All essays that need to be resubmitted to improve your grade, are due on Monday, 1/10/2022.  This applies to both the movie/play/book review and the disaster writing project.  Earlier is also acceptable.  Please speak with Mrs. Wenzl if you have any questions.

7th ELA--1/12/2022--any revisions/edits/resubmissions are due on Tuesday, 1/11/2022.

7th ELA--1/7/2022--complete worksheet on compound and complex sentences for homework.  Due Friday, 1/7/2022, in class.

7th ELA--12/16/2021--celebration and sharing of disaster project writing in small groups.  You may bring a small snack for yourself.  Have your laptops charged and ready to use for this period.  

7th ELA--12/15/2021--work on literature writing project.  Due Friday or sooner.

7th  ELA--12/13/2021--work on finishing the disasters paper for Monday.  Remember you need to include the self-assessment, outline, notes, and rough draft.

7th ELA--12/14/2021--Final writing of disaster project is due on Tuesday, 12/14/2021.  Be certain to also include notes, outline, rough draft, and self-assessment!!  Use Times New Roman, 12 point for the font with 1.5 line spacing.  The sources that have been used on all listed on their own page, at the end of your writing.

7th ELA--12/8/2021--Continue with writing your final copy of the disasters writing project.   We will discuss as a class whether the due date needs to be changed.

7th ELA--12/7/2021--continue to write disaster final paper.  Due on Thursday, 12/9/2021.

7th ELA--12/3/2021--continue to work on, refine, revise, add to disaster writing project.  Deadline for final is CHANGED to Thursday, 12/9/2021.

7th ELA--12/1/2021--work on writing the first draft of your disaster project paper.  The rough draft is tentatively due on Thursday, 12/2/2021.  Just get the ideas down on paper right now.  Edit as you go along.  

7th ELA==11/30/2021:  complete an outline of the paper/research of your disaster writing project.  Turn the outline in on Tuesday, 11/30/2021.  Be certain that your name is on your work.  This will help in your writing of the draft of your writing.  

7A -- ELA--11/23/2021:  continue to write notes and research for your disaster project during the conference days.  Begin drafting as you think you are ready.  This will be a priority when we return from the Thanksgiving holiday.  See you in conferences!

7A ELA--11/19/2021:  Continue with research on disasters project topic.  Check for sources through the library.  Take notes.  Remember to write down the information for the sources page:  Title, author, publishing company, city of company, copyright year.  Also, write down the pages used.  This information can be compiled in a word document.  When ready begin drafting your writing.

7A ELA--11/16/2021:  Decide on the man-made or natural disaster you will be researching and writing a paper on.  The paper will likely be about three pages in length and must include a sources list or bibliography.

7th ELA--11/15/2021:  students who need to resubmit their fictional narrative to improve your grade, all resubmissions are due by Monday, 11/15/2021.  They may be turned in earlier if ready to be turned in before Monday.

7ELA--10/15/2021:  for narratives which need to be resubmitted, they are due on Monday, 11/15/2021.  If you are in ELA club, these will also be worked on in ELA Club, but work also needs to happen at home, outside of class.

7A--ELA, 11/15/2021:  Resubmission due date for science rewrite and/or narrative  rewrite is Monday, 11/15/2021.

7A--ELA, 11/8/2021:  complete the assignment from the ELA book, page 360, #1-14, if you did not complete it in class on Friday, 11/5/2021.  Write just the answer for #1-5.  Write out the sentences for #6-14.  This is due Monday unless you turned it in on Friday, 11/5/2021.

7th ELA--11/3/2021:  on pg. 341, complete #11-17, writing the sentence correctly by moving a prepositional phrase in the sentence.  

7A--WW/ELA--11/1/2021--Celebration of Writer's Workshop first unit of study on Monday, 11/1/2021.  Bring a special snack for yourself for the celebration.

 

 

7th ELA/WW--10/26/2021:  Final typed and printed copy of the personal narrative is due Tuesday, 10/26/2021.  Speak with Mrs. Wenzl first thing in the morning if there are problems with power tonight.

7th ELA/WW--10/20/2021-- REVISED DUE DATE FOR REALISTIC FICTION NARRATIVE==10/26/2021,  Tuesday!

7th ELA/WW--10/18/ 2021--Work on narrative over the weekend. Revise, edit, begin typing the narrative.  Use information from the power point today on dialogue and paragraphs.  Final copy will be due on Thursday, 10/21/2021.

7th WW--10/13/2021:  practice writing different endings for your fictional narrative.  Does it tie up loose ends; continue the story arc for character and plot; and connect with what the story really about?  Ask yourself these questions.  Due date of Thursday, 10/21/21.

7th  WW--10/12/2021--work on your narrative tonight.  This will be due next week on a day to be announced later this week. 

The essay on "Lather and Nothing Else" is due tomorrow on Tuesday!

 

7th ELA--10/5/2021--Greek and Latin root packet #1:  do sections 1A, C, E, F, and the matching page.  It is not necessary to cut/paste for the matching.  Instead, number either the words or the definitions 1-10 and match by number.  On the section 1E with the sorting, first sort the words on the list by the categories of part of speech that are listed.  There will not be a word for each part of speech.  Next, go on-line and find five to ten words using the roots that are on this lesson.  It does not matter what part of speech they are.

7th WW--10/5/2021:  Continue to work on the draft of your realistic fiction story.  Use transition words and both summary and scene writing in the draft.  

7th WW--9/30/2021--continue writing narrative in WW.  Make more progress tonight.  Make an effort to have a story mountain or story map or timeline to help with your ideas and writing.

7th ELA--9/28/2021--Complete ID map that was begun in class.  At least some color is expected.  This is due tomorrow, Tuesday, 9/28/2021.

7th WW--9/24/2021:  finish your plot chart/story arc for your writing.  This was begun in class.  Begin to do some writing on your story.  The plot chart/story arc is a guide, but can always change if it needs to.  

7th WW--9/23/202:  Finish character development begun in class on Tuesday.  Include the motivations and wants of the main character as well as the secondary characters.  Be certain to have given a good word picture of how this character is in as many ways as possible.

7th WW--9/16/2021--from your list of possible story ideas, choose the one that you believe is the most interesting or inspiring to you.  Have that idea ready for tomorrow's class.  If you are unable to choose from what you have, think of more ideas using the resources shared in class as examples or strategies to use.  

7th WW--9/15/2021--Write down several ideas in your WW notebook for realistic fiction writing unit.  If you get stuck for ideas, watch the news, read an on-line newspaper, watch videos about dumb thieves, read a blog.  To your parents and others, too.

7th WW--9/14/2021--Finish Writer's Workshop assessment if not completed while at school.  This is only your work.

7th ELA--9/13/2021--Be certain to cover ELA and lit books.  Return "Student Information" papers and final beginning of the year survey on Monday, 9/13/2021.

7th ELA--9/8/2021:  Bring anything you need from home to create your 6 Word Memoir.  This might be colored pencils, markers, water colors, pictures from the internet.   Be certain to  have the phrase that was written on Tuesday in class.
