7th WW--4/21/2021--continue to read in your book of choice for the unit. Make comments, observations, questions, drawings, etc. about what you read. Go deep and analyze what is happening in the book and with the characters.
7th WW-4/202/2021: read about 25 pages in your chosen book. In your Writer's Workshop notebook continue to write about what you read and how the author did things in the book. Set a goal for tonight's writing. Look at the writing strongly paper in your packet if you are stuck for an idea for a writing goal.
Because you are reading a book for this writing unit, the reading time you do for this unit may be included on your weekly reading log.

1. Complete the weekly reading log on Teams. If there are any that have not been done, please do them as well.
2. Read and respond to the reading you are doing in the book you will be using for the Writer's Workshop unit.
7th WW--4/15/2021: think about and decide what book you plan to use for this unit of writing. This unit's focus is writing about reading. The book you chose will be used for the entire unit of Writer's Workshop. This needs to be a book that speaks to you. I will be making a note of which book you have chosen.
7th WW--4/14/2021: complete the informative/explanatory essay begun in class on Tuesday. Turn in at class on Wednesday, 4/14/2021. Have your Writer's Workshop notebook with you for class on Wednesday.
7th ELA--4/13/2021: Today is an asynchronous day. The work that I would like you to do today is to complete Unit 6 in the Greek/Latin packet. Please do sections A-F of this unit. This is the big packet that we have used before. This work will be turned in tomorrow, Tuesday. If you have misplaced the packet or somehow lost it, then silent read for 30 minutes. This can go on your log for the week.
Also, on Tuesday in ELA you will be writing an essay for the beginning of the new Writer's Workshop unit. This is an informational writing unit. To prepare for tomorrow, please think of a topic that you know a lot about or have studied. The essay tomorrow is an explanatory text that teaches someone else interesting or important information about it. You may bring information, books, or papers with you tomorrow to write this essay. It will be written with paper and pen; no laptops tomorrow.

Work on your graphic novel as part of homework on a daily basis. The final due date is Friday, April 2, 2021. Paper for a cover is available in the classroom. You may also use something you have at home if you prefer.

7th WW--3/19/2021--Continue to work for the asynchronous day on your graphic novels. Bring all work to class on Monday, 3/22/2021. Work to have at least half of it finished. We will be looking at the work on Monday to determine how much more time this work will take. We will also revisit a proposed grading rubric.
7th WW--3/18/2021--Work on the graphic novel tonight at home for about 30 - 45 minutes. Work on the drawings and the graphic final. Do this on Wednesday as well.
7th WW--3/16/2021--for Tuesday, have a completed story arc and timeline. This will allow us to work on the book plan. Have stickies and paper to lay them out on. Think about zoom ins and zoom outs. Also, come with ideas for a rubric to use in grading this project. Scores are1 through 4 with one being the low score.
7th WW--3/12/2021-- tonight and tomorrow for class, work on your timeline and story arc for your graphic novel. Add to and make refinements on your doodled characters. Add traits and characteristics.

WW--the paper is due Friday, 3/5/2021. Home learners will load it up on Teams along with the checklist and self-assessment. In-school learners will turn in a physical copy tomorrow in class. IF you have a problem and need to the end of the day, please let me know as soon as you know. Celebration is planned for Monday. A compilation packet will be printed for you.

7th WW--2/25/2021: Complete a self-assessment of your competitive sports writing. Use the Argument Check-list to do this. Set a goal or two as a response to what you assess in your writing. Work on those goals for the writing for Thursday, 2/25/2021. Thursday will the last lesson with the week of 3/1/2021 to revise and edit. The final copy is due on Friday, 3/5/2021.
7th WW--2/23-2021: Work on your final copy of the essay. Concentrate on the introduction and the conclusion. It is likely to take several attempts to get one that is really good. Look at your packets for information about the intro and conclusion and samples for them. Be ready to do some self-assessing using the checklist that is in the packet. There is a power point attached as well. Keep the papers passed out about the calendar and due date and the half sheet checklist to be turned in with your essay.
7th WW--2/1/8/2021: Between now and Thursday, 2/18/2021, research your subtopic to the competitive sports topic. Prepare for a debate on Thursday, 2/18/2021. Following the debate you will be flash drafting your debate and work on these topics. Be prepared with your notes, analysis, and supporting evidence. Practice your debate over the break to help prepare for the debate.

7th WW--2/9/2021: for tomorrow's class have your claim on the subtopic of competitive sports ready for class. Also, begin researching this portion of the paper--the subtopic. Try to have some research sources ready and available for class.
7th WW--2/9/2021--continue to research, read, take notes on reading. Read with a critical mind; ask questions. Write your thinking about what you read. This is also part of your final writing paper. Read the power point from the lesson.
7th WW--2/8/2021: On Monday, 2/8/2021, turn in your essay on competitive sports. This will be turned in directly to the teacher if you are an in-school learner. If you are an at-home learner, an assignments page will be set up on Teams for this purpose.
7th WW--2/4/2021-- for Thursday class have a revised copy of your debate position. It needs to be the strongest possible writing of your position on competitive sports for kids. Be prepared to self-evaluate your writing with the checklist and setting writing goals for yourself.
7th WW--2/2/2021--For class on Tuesday have a new version of the draft of your position on competitive sports for kids. Make certain to also have a drafted reference/citation list for your draft. Be prepared for a second debate tomorrow in class on this topic. Read/review carefully to make sure that you have strong evidence that brings your reader along with you in your argument.

1/8/2021--7th ELA--pg. 367; in the sample writing on this page, write out all of the complex sentences. Explain why they are complex sentences. For each complex sentence, write which part is the independent clause and which part is the dependent clause.

If work goes well, look at the endings of various things--movie, TV show, music video (something you know well) to see how the ending works with the whole piece. Complete the questions on Teams about your thinking/choice for a story idea--character, traits of character, and struggle the character has. The struggle is important right now; the name is secondary. Also, look in your packet at the handouts labeled for this lesson: G7, US1, L.2 Two of the sheets can be examples of an approach to figure this out that may help you.
