Types of Rocks Flowchart Quiz Study Guide


  1. Igneous: You should know how Igneous Rocks can be classified.
  2. Igneous: Tell me about how LARGE and SMALL crystals form in igneous rocks (hint: what happens when magma cools quickly and slowly)
  3. Igneous: Know examples of igneous rocks (from the flowchart)
  4. Sedimentary: How can sedimentary rocks be classified? (Know each way)
  5. What is erosion?  What is weathering? How are they different?
  6. Metamorphic: Where do metamorphic rocks get their name?  
  7. Metamorphic: Know how rocks can become metamorphic rocks.
  8. Metamorphic: How are metamorphic rocks classified?
  9. Sedimentary: What is compaction? What is cementation? What’s the difference?
  10. Know the examples given to you in each of the flowcharts (you must be able to identify metamorphic, sedimentary, and igneous rocks; the only examples you need to know are the ones I gave you in the flowcharts)
