Welcome to Mrs. Lucarelli’s Music Classes

Welcome to the new school year and to Music Class! As your Saint Brendan’s School Music Specialist, I have the wonderful task of teaching and sharing music with your child(ren). Students will have music class once a week, either on Monday or Tuesday. In every grade, we will explore music through singing, dancing, composing, and playing instruments!

The music curriculum conforms to the Essential Academic Learning Requirements (EALRs) for the State of Washington.

Student Expectations:

M – Make good choices

U – Use kind words

S – Show respect to classmates, teacher, and music

I –   Involve yourself

C – Care for our room and instruments

Students receive daily participation grades as well as earning points through in-class work, projects and performances.

Performances

This year we will put on a Christmas program on Wednesday December 6th @ 7pm.

  • Students K-8 are to participate and stay for the ENTIRE program as part of their music grade.  Performing, listening, and appreciating music are essential elements to their music education.  Students will sit with their classes for the duration of the program.  Plus, all students (K-8) will perform at the end of the program.

  • What to wear – Christmas best!  It would be lovely to see the children in their best Christmas attire!  Please know that it may get warm in the church, so boys in full suits might be too uncomfortable. Christmas best = Christmas colors!  Dresses, skirts, slacks, nice shoes.  Please – no t-shirts, jeans, yoga pants, or tennis shoes.

Leading Mass

Each individual class will lead one school mass during the year. One of the responsibilities for the class hosting, is to lead the congregation in singing the hymns.

Visits to the Chateau Retirement Center

1st-8th grade classes will have the opportunity to sing at the Chateau for its residents.  This is a wonderful way to share the gift of music and to bring joy to the seniors in our community.  Dates TBD.

Meet Becky Lucarelli

Lucarelli_80x100

My name is Becky Lucarelli, and I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Choral Music Education and General Music Education from Central Washington University in 1996.  I have taught in both the Bellevue School District and the Lake Washington School District, as well as a long-term music sub at Sacred Heart in Bellevue .  I am primarily a singer but I also play the piano and guitar.  I am also the Director of Music Ministries at Holy Family Parish in Kirkland and I direct the 9am King’s Choir.  I also perform as a professional singer for weddings and funerals.

I live in Kirkland with my husband Lou and our 4 children.  My oldest daughter is a freshman at Boise State University and my second oldest daughter is a senior at Holy Names Academy in Seattle. My younger son and daughter attend Holy Family School in Kirkland.  Besides spending time with my family and ministering at our parish, I enjoy playing softball, volleyball, reading, and walking.
