Welcome to Pre-K at St. Brendan School!
St. Brendan Pre-Kindergarten provides a safe, faith-centered atmosphere for young children. Our age-appropriate classroom environment promotes opportunities for the development of early academic and social skills. Using our positive classroom atmosphere, we encourage and model respectful communication, decision making, creative thinking, and problem solving. We foster values important to our faith such as using kind words when solving problems, actively participating in prayer, doing service for others, and being thankful for all God has provided for us.
Our Pre-Kindergarten program prepares students for our Kindergarten class. The curriculum includes religion, early literacy, math, science, social studies, music, library, and art. Students have classes with St. Brendan School specialists in music, library, technology and physical education. Also, students are integrated into the larger school community by attending school Masses, having 4th grade buddies, school assemblies, and taking part in a cross-age student family.
Meet Mrs. Colleen Hauck
I am so pleased to be a member of St. Brendan School faculty. This is my third year as a half-time Pre-Kindergarten teacher. A little about me: I am a graduate of St. Louise School and Eastside Catholic High School. I earned my Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education with endorsements in Early Childhood Education and Reading from the University of Portland. I taught both half-day and full-day Kindergarten in several Catholic schools over 9 years. I completed my Master of Education degree in curriculum and instruction through Seattle University. I am married to Preston Hauck and we are members of Holy Family Parish in Kirkland and we have two children, a daughter who attends Seattle Prep and a son who attends Holy Family Parish School.
After working with my husband in his business and taking several years at home, I was very excited to get back to my first love—teaching! I have a special affinity for young children and truly enjoy working with them to develop their skills and identity as a students, grow in their faith and love for God, and expand their knowledge of the world around us. I am looking forward to working with Mrs. Shumate, Mrs. Billard and the new 3’s teacher, Ms. Deitch to continue to grow and develop the preschool program at St. Brendan’s. I am happy to announce that my classroom aide is Mrs. Elizabeth Vandenberg, who has been working at St. Brendan for many years! I am sure Mrs. Vandenberg will bring her trademark care and dependability to working with me and the pre-K students.
Here’s to a wonderful year together!
