Welcome to Second Grade!
As your children move from First Grade to Second, they continue to expand their reading, math, and writing skills. They learn more Bible stories, prepare for First Reconciliation and First Communion, and learn how to build friendships. The students enjoy working independently, with partners, and in small groups. Each week, students have Music, Art, PE, Computer, and Library class. There are always a lot of fun activities and learning going on in Second Grade. Come visit our classroom and see what we are learning!
Meet Miss Becky Gorlin
Miss Gorlin finished her student teaching at Saint Alphonsus Catholic School in the 3rd grade in 2016 and started at Saint Brendan’s in December of 2016. Miss Gorlin is still very active at Saint Alphonsus singing in the choir, teaching CCD, and serving communion. Calling Southern California home, Miss Gorlin is a big Angels Baseball fan. Miss Gorlin graduated Saint Martin’s University in Lacey Washington in 2012 with a degree in Accounting where she played on the softball team as a pitcher, was in the pep band playing trombone, and served on a local non-profit board called Homeless Backpacks. After graduation, Miss Gorlin got a job in Seattle at a CPA firm, then, once she was studying for the CPA, she decided she did not like it. After a period of adoration she decided to pursue a degree in teaching. Being the daughter, granddaughter and great granddaughter of teachers, teaching was in her blood. Having stared helping her mom in CCD starting when she was 10 years old, the love of religion and teaching continued when she taught her own CCD class starting when she was 15. In her spare time Miss Gorlin loves playing softball, tap dancing and volunteering in the community with the Rotary Club of Lake Forest Park. Miss Gorlin has a a big family who are very important in Miss Gorlin’s life.
