Due:
MS Teams Activity
6th: Please remember attendance!
Now, as we wrap up our last few days and take a look at weather predictions, I wanted to take a quick break out of HMH.
I have tasked you with an assignment on MS Teams called “Weather Predicting Resources.” Please begin by going to MS Teams for your assignment. This will be due Thursday morning!
Due:
Catch-Up and Exploration 3
Due:
Check-In Quiz, Two Explorations
Important: Your first order of business is to look at the “Trimester 3 Check-In Quiz” assignment and complete this simple quiz (this is very important, so please get this done ASAP).
Second, your additional tasks have all been sent to you through HMH already (Explorations 1 and 2) and they are waiting for you to complete by Tuesday. I will review this in detail and walk you through what I want you to accomplish during our Zoom meeting.
Due:
Quiz (due Monday) and two Explorations (due Wednesday)
6th: Please remember attendance! Your Priority assignment is to complete your Lesson Quiz that we reviewed during our Zoom on Thursday. You MUST complete your quiz by 3:00 on Monday, May 18th. Just get it done and you won’t have to worry about it.
Additionally, we are now moving onto our new Lesson that covers Earth’s ocean currents (which play a Huge role in moderating our PNW weather, so these are much more applicable to us than much of the rest of the country comparatively speaking). You have two explorations (already tasked to you) that you must complete by Wednesday at 9:00am, but neither of them is exceptionally stressful or difficult (please just read the content carefully prior to answering any of the questions). There is a section in the second exploration that falls under the “hands-on” sections, but I want you to skip this as you won’t have the materials.
When your quiz and explorations are done, make sure you are 100% caught up in HMH!
Due:
Quiz, Take it Further
You will have a quiz on Monday covering our current lesson (“Circulation in Earth’s Atmosphere”). It is very important that you take time to study, so that will be the major part of today’s assignment: study, study, study! You will have multiple choice and response questions, so please make sure that you are prepared for both. You must be able to show that you understand the science so please be prepared to provide detailed responses for the discussion questions. If you read over your three most recent explorations you will be on the right track! You will need to complete your quiz by Monday at 3:00pm. NOTE: I have tasked you with the “Lesson Self Check” on HMH, but I will NOT be grading this - it is meant to help you review and prepare for your quiz, so please take advantage of this opportunity!
Your second assignment will be on HMH. You will be completing this section’s “Take it Further” (I love these activities). The Only section you will need to do is the “Jet Streams” portion that is on the top left. You do Not need to complete the “Collaborate” portion.
Due:
Electromagnetism Quiz Tuesday!
Due:
Assignments due 5/11
Due:
What's Happening? Article Response
Due:
Circulation in Earth's Atmosphere Exploration 1, MS Teams Quiz
Due:

Due:
Assignment
Assignments for 4/6: We will not have a Zoom this week due to our short class week. You have one exploration (#2) on HMH that continues to examine the concept of “Heat.” Additionally, you have an HMH Virtual Lab titled “How are Temperature and Kinetic Energy Related?”
I am giving you until Wednesday to finish these assignments. After today, you will not have additional assignments from me until after spring break on April 20th.

Assignment
- You have your quiz on “Changes in Energy” that will be due TODAY (Thursday) at 3:00.
- Today you will be completing the first exploration in your new lesson on Thermal Energy. Thermal Energy (as I will chat about in our Zoom) is the amount of heat an object has due to the movement of (you know what this is :) ). In other words, Thermal Energy and Kinetic Energy are closely linked. Your exploration will be due tomorrow at 9:00am.

You will be completing Exploration 2 on Modeling Energy Transformations. This section includes a lab (“You’ve Lost Your Marbles”)… but we’ve already done a better version to demonstrate PE/KE, so you don’t have to do it :) Your exploration will be due Friday, March 27th. Also, here is your Friday Zoom meeting link: https://us04web.zoom.us/j/539886811
Due:
Assignment

After you watch the video, you will see in MS Teams that you have been tasked with an assignment. Please complete the assignment by Tuesday at 9:00am. Good luck!
7th: Please email me pictures of your lab if you have not already done so (two pictures should be sufficient) in addition to having submitted your lab responses. Remember that tomorrow, Tuesday the 24th you will have a quiz over the three explorations you have completed so far. Be sure to study! Your only assignment Tuesday will be your quiz, so you can submit today’s assignment on Thursday at 9:00am.
Now, for your assignment: Please begin by watching my YouTube video at the following link: https://youtu.be/RFOoeKusxlk
After you watch the video, you will see in MS Teams that you have been tasked with an assignment. Please complete the MS Teams assignment by Thursday at 9:00am. Make sure you study for your quiz tomorrow! Good luck!
8th: I hope that you were able to be successful with your lab! As long as you gave me your best attempt I am happy; I understand how crazy the situation is with not being able to leave the house.
For today, please begin by watching my YouTube video at the following link: https://youtu.be/RFOoeKusxlk
After you watch the video, you will see in MS Teams that you have been tasked with an assignment. Please complete the assignment by Tuesday at 9:00am. Good luck!

Howdy Folks,
I hope that all is well! Again, nice job keeping up with your assignments! I am so impressed with your self-advocacy and responsibility taking! I love you guys and I miss you. Please make sure you’re not driving your parents crazy while you’re stuck at home :)
March 19th Assignments:
6th Grade: BEAUTIFUL job with attendance! You guys rock!
Tomorrow, 3/19, you will be completing the Potential and Kinetic Energy section “Lesson Self Check” in HMH. Specifically, you will be completing three sections: "Can You Explain it?," "Interactive Review," and "Checkpoints.” You do Not have to complete the “Make Your Own Study Guide” section. Pay close attention to the points taught in the Self Check as this is an excellent review/recap of what we have covered regarding PE/KE. This will be due Friday at 9:00am.
7th Grade: Don’t forget to keep an eye on your lab! The answers for this are due on Monday, March 23rd. Your assignment for Thursday, 3/19 is as follows: You will be completing your HMH Exploration 3 today. This is an Excellent summation of the Law of Conservation of Matter and Energy. Remember: matter and energy can neither be created nor destroyed! As organisms, we are Perfect examples of this! This assignment will be due Friday morning at 9:00am.
8th Grade: I will have a Zoom meeting @ 10:00am on Friday, March 20th. The meeting code is: 591-405-089 See you there! I am tasking you with your HMH Exploration 2. This exploration contains an incredibly fun lab on testing the effectiveness of packing materials (you should definitely have most of the materials around the house; Please don’t go to the store! Use what you have! Be creative!). The lab asks that you use a scale… remember, you can hop on the scale, find your weight, and then pick something up and find the difference (your weight - your weight+an item= weight of the item).Personally I would have LOVED to do this during middle school! The good news is that this exploration will be due on Monday, March 23rd. I am giving you two days of class to work on this as it is much more involved than a normal exploration and you may need a little bit of time to gather materials. All I ask is that you do your best on the lab. Challenge yourself. Have fun. Think about the lessons you learned during our “The Sky is Falling” egg-drop lab. Let me know if you have any questions!
I miss you guys,
Mr. L
